Coaxial Fiber Optic Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide for the installation, maintenance, and movement of coaxial,
fiber optic and twisted pair cable. In addition, the technician
will provide support for voice, data and video services for client
sites.
LOCATION: Ottawa
QUALIFICATIONS: You must meet each of
the following requirements in order to be considered for this
position At least five years consecutive technician experience
required.
- Experience in voice, data and video cabling.
- Experience in local area network cabling.
- Experience in pulling copper and fiber optic cables (backbone
and horizontal).
- Experience in building telecommunications closets (including
mounting racks, cross-connect blocks, backboards and grounding
hardware.
- Experience with termination of twisted pair, coaxial and fiber
optic cables.
- Experience testing twisted pair cables (to Category 5e or higher
specifications) and fiber optic cables (both single and multi-mode
fiber).
- Experience conducting job site surveys (including visual inspections,
identifying problems, etc.).
- Experience performing troubleshooting on copper and fiber optic
cables.
- Experience splicing copper and fiber optic cables.
- Experience performing a cut over (retrofit or upgrade) of a
cabling system.
- Experience preparing workstation outlet locations (install wall,
floor or modular furniture).
- Experience installing cable support systems (cable trays, cable
racks, J-hooks, bridle or D-rings).
- Experience installing UTP, STP-A coaxial
- Experience reading blueprints (symbols and abbreviations).
- Experience working with pin configurations, color codes.
- Five years consecutive coaxial fiber optic technician experience
– must provide proof of this experience and supply references
for the last three jobs up to five years.
- Certification from recognized college in cabling.
- Certificate in Asbestos Procedures.
- Valid WHMIS certificate.
- Installation knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA-568, 569, 570, 606, 607
cabling standards and the CSA T529 standards.
Professional Service Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION:
(Access, Res/Com, CCTV)
LOCATION: Ottawa
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A background in computer/electronics is preferred
- Electronic Technician or Technologist certificate or equivalent
post-secondary certificate.
- Must have a minimum or one year experience with Security Systems.(Access,
CCTV, knowledge or Residential)
- Must have an unrestricted G License.
- Must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be bondable
- Must be computer literate
- Excellent Customer Service Skills.
Fire Alarm Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform service and inspection activities on electrical fire alarm
systems, access control and security systems. Read and interpret
blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and schematics.
Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer
specifications.
Evaluate and diagnose equipment requiring service, and identify
and troubleshoot problems.
Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on
most efficient and cost efficient methods to return equipment
to working order.
LOCATION: Ottawa
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College diploma in Electrical/Electronics program.
- Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) certification an asset.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of applicable codes (ULC
etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
